Dr. Naresh Tyagi is currently Chief Sustainability Officer of Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited (ABFRL). He has been a dynamic leader with over three decades of rich experience in the Textile, Apparel and Retail Industries. He is a renowned sustainability strategist who has led changes in the practice and paradigms of sustainability with his thought leadership. His vision has helped redefine the perception of sustainability especially in the Indian perspective. He has been instrumental in integrating innovation and sustainability philosophy as part of business operations and across value chains and thereby paving the way to take organisation to greater heights. He firmly believes that everyone in this society regardless of their role, can take actions that help create a better future—and that businesses can, too. He is a sustainability futurist driven by the passion to make the world a better, more sustainable place. His expertise in heading Business Units has boosted teams to develop Innovative and Strategic Initiatives across functions. Through his deep interest in promoting environmental and social causes, he has carved a niche in diverse fields such as Sustainability, Safety and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He has been instrumental in making innovation and sustainability an integral part of business operations and paving the way to take ABFRL to greater heights. Dr Tyagi is also an active member on prominent global and national industry platforms, including the Cotton 2040, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, Consortium of Green Fashion, Indian Retail Forum, Textile Association, and Circular Apparel Innovation Factory (CAIF). He is part of the 'working group' at SAC, Cotton 2040 & Science Base Target initiative (SBTi), also part of the steering committee at GIZ, a German Government agency for a 'private-public development partnership project' to build a circular ecosystem for the textile and apparel industry in India.
