Heidi Huusko joined the United Nations Global Compact in 2012 and is now the Head of Environment and Climate. Between 2022 and 2025 she was seconded to the Secretary-General’s Climate Action Team to lead Credibility and Accountability for Non-state and helped deliver the Secretary-General’s strategy on credible net-zero commitments. Heidi is one of the co-founders of the Science Based Targets initiative and spent seven years in its Executive Management Team. In 2018 she initiated the Business Ambition for 1.5 C campaign to support the 2019 Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit. In 2015 Heidi was posted to Liberia as a Recovery Advisor to the Ebola crisis. Before joining the UN Heidi was the Environment and Climate Advisor at the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency authoring agency wide policies in humanitarian relief and disaster resilience and led UN missions on disaster risk and urban search and rescue. Heidi started her career in 2004 in the civil society, working for human rights, poverty eradication and youth. Heidi holds a Masters in Social Science, Business Administration and Ecological Economics.
