Barbara Tsai leads Microsoft’s Asia compliance program, overseeing compliance strategy, risk mitigation, and cross Asia collaboration across diverse markets. With deep expertise in anti-corruption, internal investigations, AI and emerging technologies, Barbara is a thought leader in compliance program design and execution.
She is a regular speaker on frontier AI embedded legal work, particularly in the areas of compliance and internal investigations. She has also played a key role in shaping regional best practices through multi-sector public-private partnerships.
Barbara is a graduate of Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh, School of Foreign Service, and received her Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School. She started her career in international trade remedies law with the U.S. Department of Commerce, representing the U.S. government before U.S. courts, bi-national and WTO panels. Her career has spanned time in private practice in Shanghai, China with a U.S. law firm, as well as a prior role with UBS, heading up the Asia-Pacific regional Anti-Bribery and Corruption program and acting as Deputy Global Head of Anti-Bribery and Corruption for the bank.
