Anna Fälth heads the of the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) Secretariat where she leads the initiative’s efforts to advance gender equality in the private sector. Anna leads industry-specific groups and provides advice to companies on how to advance on the WEPs journey – from setting the direction, to executing actions and assessing gender equality results in the workplace, marketplace and community. With a deep commitment to creating inclusive and equitable business practices, she has spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives on gender-responsive procurement. Her work includes the development of comprehensive guidance and assessment tools to support WEPs signatories in embedding gender equality considerations into procurement processes. Anna is a passionate advocate for gender equality, driving awareness and capacity building through campaigns and pilot programmes. Her team collaborates directly with companies to advance gender equality into their up- and downstream supply chains, and draft supplier codes of conduct to ensure systemic change across value chains. Under Anna’s leadership, the WEPs has become a hub for innovation, collaboration and actionable strategies that empower business to champion gender equality in meaningful and measurable ways. An economist, Anna has more than 25 years of experience as economic advisor within the UN system, including UNCTAD, UN-DESA, UNDP and UN Women, and the European Commission. She has led impactful programmes, such as EmpowerWomen and WE EMPOWER, promoting responsible business conduct in G7 countries, a global women’s and gender champion network, learning and innovation to advance gender equality across the world. She has a MSc in Economics from Lund University, Sweden, and a Masters in Law and Economic from Hamburg University, Germany.
