Bio Harold Pauwels
Harold is the Director of Standards at the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), where he leads the development of GRIs sustainability reporting standards, including those on climate, energy, pollution, water, nature and biodiversity and tax. With more than 25 years of experience in standardization, certification, and multi-stakeholder governance, his focus is on strengthening the complementarity of GRI impact driven Standards and investor-driven standards frameworks like ISSB and TNFD to improve the quality and comparability of the global reporting system. Harold plays a key role in advancing transparency on climate and nature related impact focussed sustainability related (financial) information helping many user groups including investors and capital-market participants to have access to consistent and decision-useful data.
Harold became an expert in public/private standardization and certification initiatives in the Energy and Sustainability field. He has held executive positions in Standardization organizations and part of Advisory Committees and Boards of global certification initiatives.
Harold holds a Bachelor Chemical Engineering and Chemistry (MSc), a premaster Business Administration and is part of the Comenius leadership network of the University of Groningen.
