Li Zhou is a Tech and Human Rights Officer in the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights’s New York Office. His work focuses on technology and human rights, including specifically the governance of artificial intelligence and the application of human rights due diligence across the life cycle of digital technologies. Previously, Li was with the Secretariat of the United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) where he led system-wide work related to artificial intelligence, the development of international data governance principles, and other strategic priorities such as Beyond GDP. Li has also worked in the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific to expand impact-driven start-up ecosystems in the Asia-Pacific region, the Department for Economic and Social Affairs on AI and youth, and the United Nations Development Programme on human rights. Prior to joining to the UN, Li worked in the Australian Government, including at its National Human Rights Institution.
