Raquel Artecona is the Officer in Charge at the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean Office in Washington D.C. She is responsible for the overall direction and management of the Office and its substantive work program. Raquel has over twenty years of experience at inter-governmental organizations conducting research on a broad range of topics. Recent projects include a report on the new industrial policy adopted in the United States, the level of competition faced by Latin American and Caribbean exports in the U.S. market, the role of multilateral development institutions on supporting development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Before joining ECLAC, she was an Economic Analyst at the World Bank where she conducted research on gender, trade, and labor issues.
Raquel received a PhD in Economics from American University, a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay (UdelaR).
