Amita Chaudhury is the Group Head of Sustainability at AIA, the largest pan-Asian Life and Health Insurance Group. She is responsible for overseeing the Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, goals and plans and driving organization wide efforts to embed ESG into business
operations and culture.
During her 11 months at AIA, the company has made accelerated progress on the ESG agenda.
Highlights include committing to net zero by 2050, signing on to the science Based Targets, divesting from coal in directly managed listed equity and fixed income exposure, seven years ahead of schedule and setting KPIs across AIA’s 5 ESG strategy pillars.
Prior to AIA, Amita spent 13 years at Unilever, as Head of Sustainable Business for Southeast Asia and Australasia and before that, as the Global Director for Diversity and Inclusion. She was named a Leading woman in Sustainability by the World Business Council of Sustainable Development in 2018 and seconded to United Nations Global Compact, New York from Unilever as senior advisor on Sustainability Learning in 2019.
During her time at the UNGC, she was also the Co-Director of Global Expert Group, Healthcare sector via technology, Sustainable Infrastructure for the Belt and Road Initiative Action Platform to accelerate Sustainable Development Goals. She has been an advisory Council Member for Sustainability learning with the Human Capital Leadership Institute, Asia and a Jury member for the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards, CSR Works, 2020; CDL-Young SDG Leaders Awards and Leonie Gender Diversity Awards.
She is the author of the book, “Working mothers, happy kids”. She completed certification on Business management in Sustainability from University of Cambridge, is the associate of higher education academy at City university of London, has an MBA in Marketing and International Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, India and Honours in Mathematics from University of Delhi, India
