Sonay Aykan is a sustainability expert and believes in creating a more sustainable future by translating environmental and social impacts into business growth. Sonay leverages his academic expertise, research mindset and problem solving skills to be a change agent in organizations, linking the interests of multiple stakeholders to incentivize change towards a new organizational vision where sustainability becomes a part of everyday practices. Sonay currently serves as Associate Director, Sustainability and ESG at Colgate-Palmolive Company, overseeing the creation, management and disclosure of sustainability data, as well as integration of sustainability metrics into business risks and opportunities. Sonay leads the efforts to embed UN Sustainable Development Goals into Colgate’s Sustainability & Social Impact Strategy by creating roadmaps and educational material. Sonay has a PhD. in Urban Systems from Rutgers & NJIT, an MA in Sociology and a BA in Economics from Bogazici University. He also holds a SASB FSA credential.
