Fethi Hanchi, engineer with 25+ years of experience in energy, has been involved in the reform of the energy sector in Tunisia and contributed to design, implement and evaluate programs for the development and promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energies.

During his career, Fethi Hanchi held various positions at the National Agency for Energy Management (ANME). He started as Project Engineer (1998-2002) then Head of the transport department (2002-2008), then Deputy Director for the Rational Use of Energy where he managed and coordinated energy efficiency programs and activities in the construction and transport sectors as well as the territorial dimension (2008-2011). In February 2011, he was appointed Director of Rational Use of Energy then Central Technical Director in March 2019 with a portfolio including energy efficiency and renewable energy activities. In June 2020, he was appointed ANME’s CEO and still holds this position today.

Fethi Hanchi is a member of the Board of Directors of three leading Tunisian companies : the Tunisian Society of Refining Industries (STIR), the National Petroleum Distribution Company (AGIL) and the Tunisian Petroleum Activities (ETAP). He is also member of the Board of Directors of the Tunisian Company for Electricity and Gas (STEG) - Renewable Energy.

He is involved in two groups of the International Energy Agency Global E-Mobility Program : Charging and Grid Integration Working Group and Light Duty E-Vehicles Working Group. He has recently joined the Global Steering Committee of the UNDP’s Climate Promise Initiative. Fethi Hanchi is the Secretary General of the Tunisian Cluster Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energies TuniCREEE since March 2021.
