Dr. Maria A. Gwynn (Paraguay) is a Member of the Governing Council of the Binational Entity ITAIPU. She is also a member of the National Climate Change Commission of Paraguay and has represented both Paraguay and ITAIPU at the COP 26. She is a Professor at the Institute for Strategic Studies of Paraguay; a faculty member of the Institute of International Law, University of Bonn, Germany. She is also an International Arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Switzerland.
Dr. Gwynn was a former Oxford-Princeton Global Leaders Fellow; former Associate at Berkemeyer, Attorneys & Counselors; and was a Member of the CAS Ad Hoc Division for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.
She holds a PhD from the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, Germany; a Magister Juris from the Law Faculty, University of Oxford, UK; and an LLB-Honours degree from the Faculty of Law, National University of Asuncion, Paraguay, as well as various postgraduate degrees and diplomas, among them a Directed Studies Diploma from The Hague Academy of International Law, the certificate from the Climate Change Leadership programme with former US Vice President Al Gore, and an International Arbitration Diploma from the College of Law of England and Wales. She is author of several books and articles in international journals.
