The pivotal UNGC publication defines Collective Action as a collaborative and sustained stakeholder cooperation process. It increases the impact and credibility of individual action, brings vulnerable players into an alliance of like-minded organizations, and levels the playing field between competitors.
The UN Global Compact implements three large-scale projects that foster global anti-corruption collective action (ACCA). By September 2024, we will have twelve Local Networks implementing ACCA approaches, many promoting great examples of public-private meaningful engagement (Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Thailand, Ukraine, Uruguay).
For the 2024 Leader Summit, we will bring them to NY and would like to take advantage of their experience to get all minds together in a workshop session. Together with business leaders, they could discuss the incentives for businesses to engage in such initiatives, how collective action creates trust among stakeholders and between the public and private sectors, how the collective action tool could be used to “connect the dots” between “E” “S” and “G.”
