Helmy Abouleish is Managing Director of the SEKEM Initiative in Egypt, which his father Dr. Ibrahim Abouleish founded in 1977. SEKEM promotes sustainable development in the areas of ecology, economy, social affairs and culture. The SEKEM companies produce, process and market organic and biodynamic food, textiles and herbal medicines in Egypt, the Arab world and on international markets and operate various educational institutions. SEKEM is considered an Egyptian "organic pioneer" and received the Right Livelihood Award in 2003. Helmy Abouleish studied business administration and marketing in Cairo and engages in national and international Policy for responsible competitiveness, social Entrepreneurship and tackling the big problems of the 21st century, such as climate change and food security.
