Iván is an agronomist with a master's degree in Rural Development, a postgraduate degree in Business Administration and Management, and international specializations in Climate Change Adaptation Policies, as well as Food and Nutritional Security. He was the FAO Representative in Nicaragua from 2018 to 2023 and the Assistant FAO Representative for Programs in Colombia from 2012 to 2018. Currently, he is the FAP Representative in Paraguay.
