Summit of the Future Action Day

To generate additional opportunities for the engagement of all actors, the Secretary-General of the United Nations is convening the Summit of the Future Action Days on 20 and 21 September 2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Bringing together representatives from Member States, civil society, private sector, academia, local and regional authorities, creative communities, youth, and many more, everyone will be present, included and engaged during the Action Days. These stakeholders have all played a key role in shaping the Pact for the Future and will be critical to its implementation. Their participation, contributions and catalytic mobilization will be essential to the success of the Summit of the Future and its follow-up. Expected participants include Heads of State, Ministers, senior UN officials and representatives from the private sector, civil society and other actors

Water Resilience Coalition CEO Circle
(Organized by The CEO Water Mandate)
The CEO Circle of the Water Resilience Coalition (WRC) convenes the initiative’s leading CEOs, along with CEOs of other corporates interested in advancing water resilience through collective action. The event will contain two portions and closed session for only the CEOs of active WRC member companies and an open session for both active member companies and prospective member companies. The closed meeting will begin with remarks from the WRC Co-Chairs and move into updates on progress, present the roadmap for the coming year, and raise discussion topics related to the WRC workplan and engagement opportunities. The open meeting present the value proposition for the WRC and share exciting recent developments in collective action and Net Positive Water Impact for companies to leverage moving forward. The program seeks to also include a high-profile key-note speaker to be confirmed. Breakfast will be served for guests and following the meeting there will be open networking time to connect with other guests. All CEOs should have ample time to travel from the WRC CEO Circle venue to UNHQ prior to the PSF.

CEO ROUNDTABLE: GALVANIZING AFRICA TO MOVE FORWARD FASTER ON THE SDGS
Organized by UN Global Compact Network Nigeria
In alignment with the Summit of the Future, the CEO Roundtable will convene distinguished leaders from Africa’s business community, international economic policymakers and investment firms. The focus of the discussion will be on harnessing the influence of businesses to accelerate progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular attention to the key themes of the Forward Faster initiative: gender equality, climate action, living wage, water resilience, and SDG finance and investment.
This roundtable will serve as a pivotal forum for addressing policy obstacles that impede sustainability efforts. It will also provide a vital platform for fostering innovation, mobilizing investment and for exploring future opportunities. Additionally, the roundtable will examine the transformative role businesses can play in advancing the SDGs. It presents a valuable opportunity to share insights, build strategic partnerships, and commit to actionable plans that can drive meaningful change.

SDG Summit USA

SDG Summit USA, the UN Global Compact Network USA’s flagship event, is a full-day summit that brings together over 250 representatives from participating companies of the United Nations Global Compact, local government, civil society, and the UN. The 2024 Summit will raise awareness and promote practical business action and partnerships within the American private sector in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Since 2008, the annual Private Sector Forum (PSF) has gathered global leaders at the United Nations during the UN General Assembly week to address major global issues such as climate change, sustainable development and human rights. Hosted by the UN Secretary-General during the UN SDG Summit, the Private Sector Forum brings the voice of business to the UN by inviting over 200 leading CEOs and investors to sit down for lunch with Heads of State and Government, senior UN leadership and civil society representatives for an interactive luncheon, featuring roundtable discussions and high-level networking opportunities. The Forum is a unique opportunity for CEOs, Heads of State and Government as well as UN leaders to rally behind the SDGs and recommit to accelerate action towards 2030.

Digitalization for Good & ESG Reporting Standards – Bridging the Gap for a Sustainable Future

A key expected outcome of the Summit of the Future is the Global Digital Compact, a framework that sets out principles to advance an open, free and human-centered digital future that contributes to the SDGs and universal human rights.
Joint event by UN Global Compact Networks Finland, France and Sweden will delve into how digitalization can drive positive change and how robust ESG reporting standards can ensure these changes are sustainable and accountable.
The first part will highlight the transformative power of digital technologies in bridging the digital divide and enhancing data-driven decision-making.
The second part will focus on sustainability issues, featuring a comparative analysis of European and North American reporting standards, aligned with the UN Global Compact and Communication on Progress (CoP) tool.
The 20th Anniversary of the UN Global Compact Principle Ten

The CEO Water Mandate will host a full day of programming showcasing the latest advancements in corporate water stewardship thought leadership, water resilience scaling, and elevating water on the global agenda. Corporate Sustainability Reporting Frameworks: Synergies & Opportunities for AI Integration
This event aims to establish a platform for dialogue on the implications of international regulations for sustainability reporting. This 2024 edition of the SDG Barometer takes the form of a comparative analysis between 10 European Networks of the United Nations Global Compact (France, Spain, United Kingdom, Italy, Switzerland/Liechtenstein, Greece, Ireland, Bulgaria, Serbia and Turkey).
At a time when European regulations are evolving considerably, the SDGs constitute a common grammar enabling companies to better prepare for this normative change. It is therefore essential to measure their appropriation and implementation by the private sector.

Business and Human Rights Roundtable
