Description

Hosted by Global Compact Networks Lebanon, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates

The world today includes the largest generation of young people as compared to at any point in history with 1.8 billion people between the ages of 10 to 24. In the Arab region specifically, young people make up the fastest growing segment with half its population under the age of 25 years old. They are at the same time both victims of climate change and a vehicle for hope.

Bearing some of the hottest climates in the world and home to 12 of the world’s 17 most water stressed countries, the Arab region is tagged as among the most vulnerable to climate change. Food and water production systems face imminent threats as a result of climate change impacting agriculture, health and incomes.

Young people are taking the reins as innovators, advocates, and change makers shedding light on the threat of climate change and seeking solutions through various institutions and channels available to them. With the private sector playing a critical role in addressing climate change, this session will explore how young people are leveraging the power of business and innovation to impact change.
