LUCAS RIBEIRO PAOLA DE LUNA FERNANDA DELGADO
Description

The world is far off track in limiting global temperature rise to 1.5˚C. Yet, current pledges and commitments in member states' Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) can put the world on track for up to a deadly 2.8˚C of warming. Global emissions must be halved to keep a climate-safe future within reach, and business leaders have a crucial role in this scenario. The Science Based Targets initiative provides companies with a clearly defined path to reduce emissions in line with the Paris Agreement goals. This practical workshop on science-based target setting is designed to strengthen participants' comprehension of key concepts, calculation tools, and resources the SBTi has developed.

The main two objectives of the workshop are:

1. Provide an overview of the different target-setting tools and their connection to sector criteria so that participants can anticipate the tools they'll need to use when modeling their targets.

2. Performing target-setting exercises (using 1-3 SBTi tools) strengthens vital concepts and helps participants become familiar with the tools' various features.
